WINNING started with a simple observation: the kids with the most to gain from serious athletic training are usually the ones least likely to ever set foot in a gym. Not because they lack the drive — because a $150 monthly membership, a pair of gloves, or a ride across town three nights a week is out of reach for their family.
At the same time, we watched genuinely elite young athletes — kids who had already outworked everyone in their weight class or on their mat — get stuck. Not for lack of talent, but because nationals were in another state, private coaching cost more than their parents made in a month, and there's no scholarship system for a 15-year-old grappler the way there is for a high school quarterback.
We built WINNING to sit in both of those gaps at once. On one end, we fund first access: gear, gym fees, and transportation for kids who've never had the chance to start. On the other, we fund the climb: travel, elite coaching, and competition costs for athletes who've already proven they belong at the next level.
We chose to focus on combat sports, gymnastics, and climbing on purpose. These are sports where a kid's effort is the only real variable — no roster politics, no bench. They demand discipline before they offer glory, and they build the kind of resilience that follows a kid well past their last competition. We think that's worth funding, at every level, for every kid who's willing to put in the work.
We fund sports that demand it, because it's the part that outlasts the trophy.
A kid's zip code or their parents' income shouldn't decide whether they get to compete.
We back kids who are already doing the work — our job is removing what's in their way.
Every dollar is tracked to a specific athlete, gym, or competition. No exceptions.
The people responsible for how WINNING raises and spends every dollar.
Former collegiate wrestler turned operations executive. Marcus has spent a decade building nonprofit boards that actually hold themselves accountable to outcomes, not just intentions.
Dana oversees WINNING's finances and grant accountability. She spent twelve years in nonprofit finance before deciding she'd rather fund athletes than audit them.
A former national-level BJJ competitor, Samuel evaluates every elite-track grant application and stays close to the athletes WINNING funds long after the check clears.
Grace builds WINNING's relationships with local gyms and coaches, making sure access grants actually reach the kids who need a first shot the most.
Theo keeps WINNING's governance airtight — policy, compliance, and the paperwork nobody sees but everybody depends on.
Elena leads WINNING's relationships with gyms, equipment brands, and competition organizers who help stretch every donated dollar further.
